West Ham will be hoping to keep their pursuit of a Europa League place alive as they play host to Huddersfield at London Stadium on Saturday.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will look to bounce back from their defeat to Cardiff last Saturday, while the visitors lost at home to Bournemouth and look destined for Championship football next season.

The Hammers sit ninth in the Premier League, just five points off Wolves in seventh, while Huddersfield lie rock bottom on 14 points, accumulating just three wins this campaign.

West Ham boss Pellegrini insists Saturday’s clash is a must win. He said: “We always need to win the game, it doesn’t matter who we play.

“They are not playing for nothing, so if we want to win then we need to play at our best.”

Andy Carroll encountered another injury setback last week and is unavailable for the hosts, while Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere, Carlos Sanchez and Winston Reid remain long-term absentees.

Jan Siewart’s side is riddled with injuries ahead of the meeting. Eric Durm sustained a minor injury in training this week and is doubtful, while Jonathan Hogg, Laurent Depoitre, Adama Diakhaby, Isaac Mbenza, Demeaco Duhaney and Danny Williams all remain sidelined.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at The John Smith’s Stadium back in November, but the Hammers are still unbeaten in three games against the visitors.

West Ham have made London Stadium a tough place to visit, not losing at home since December, while Huddersfield are yet to win on the road this season.

West Ham fan for as long as I can remember. I was flukey enough to watch The Irons beat Bury 10-0 in my first ever game . . . True to form, West Ham then went out and signed their central defender 😬
