Re: Is everything about money?

Tell me who do you think has better owners in the PL than us apart from the 2 mentioned above? There maybe similar, but not better in my opinion? The majority are in it to make big bucks and have no interest apart from that.G & S are a bit different, not perfect, but decent IMO. Love him or hate hi...

Re: Lampard Jr

Word was at the time that a lot of the anti Lampard feeling within the club's own fan base was started by certain members of the family of Scott Canham (apparently there are clips of a fan forum where someone was giving Redknapp some clog over his preference for FLJ) who was part of the same youth i...

Re: Bank debt

I have never liked David Sullivan. However I don't see how anyone can have an issue with a business owner, who risks his own capital to buy or develop a business, making a return on that investment over time.

Re: We Are Starting To Become A Laughing Stock

This is completely correct. Very few large businesses tie up their assets in real estate if they can avoid it. We use the training ground on a more or less daily basis, so it may be cheaper to own it than lease it, but we only need a stadium accommodating tens of thousands on first team match days....

Re: We Are Starting To Become A Laughing Stock

We don't own the stadium. That is a well know fact. But what is the commercial logic of a football club owning a stadium that is only going to be used, what, 30 odd times a year? The only value in owning your ground is that the nominal value of the land plus structures is classed as an asset and can...

Re: Payet gone

Poyet his contract terminated.....strange one that...was Charlton player of the year when we bought him but has not progressed presumably. Didn't he go back to Charlton on loan? That's enough to disillusion any aspiring young footballer I reckon. Probably end up in Spain with his old man at Real Be...

Re: City v West Ham MATCH THREAD(streams in first post)

Good post Bill but in Tore's defence (if there is one) although predominantly right footed he did play most of his football on the left and Bilic knows that . He did look much better against Bournemouth (and one other game) when he switched wings with Antonio and BOTH players were on their favoured...

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes

Tongue in cheek post. Went up yesterday with my youngest and his little guy who is 7 next month and loves his football. Every song that started he wanted to know the words which I scribbled down so he could sing along with it. After a couple of renditions of bubbles he looked at me very seriously an...

Re: City v West Ham MATCH THREAD(streams in first post)

It is hard not to feel despondent after that performance. Second half was much better but we look like 11 individuals out as opposed to a team. Manchester City will make a lot of teams look like that imo. And we have to bear in mind the absentees. We have lost 2 games, both against teams who will v...

Re: Astra Preview-2 big debates

Astra might be "shocking" but they were better organised and had a better game plan than us. We have a very arrogant view of the PL imo. Many of the people around me last night had the attitude that we only had to turn up to win. Judging by our first half performance I would say many of t...
