So am I. I'm English, but like Rice of Irish parentage and his statement entirely reflects my feelings on the subject of patriotism. I'm sure it's been a very difficult decision for him. The statement that accompanies it is extremely good and well thought out. I'd love to know if it's all (or mainly) his own work?
I am super glad as an Englishman, I just hope he doesn't get a curtail of abuse from Irish people, I am sure some Robbie Keane type is going to be on the Radio slating him.
I wonder if Southgate will select him in the March qualifiers?

I did think this but when are we ever going to play ROI? Highly unlikely they'll qualify for a tournament anytime soon..
Only worry is the abuse he'll get (and is already getting) on social media , may have to take a break from that for a bit
delighted he has chosen England and hope he gets an early call up, just hope being completely selfish , he doesnt do a dean ashton and and get cropped.. we'd be in da shite.
Not Declan's fault of course but just another example of how stupid "international" sport has become. I've always thought your nationality is determined by your country of birth unless there are extenuating circumstances like being born abroad whilst parents were serving in the military.
