But surely the question must be asked whether it was the Moyesiah or Obergruppenfuhrer Steidten who rubber stamped the loan deal that exiled young Mr Downes to the South Coast.

Agendas are at stake here for heaven's sake.

Knowing Moyes’ unhealthy obsession over the last couple of years with the set piece taker , I think we can safely say that if sending Downes to Southampton (on the insistence of his former manager at Swansea) was the only way JWP was coming to us , then we can blame the dour one.

Now I’m not saying Downes is that good , or even PL standard , as he was never really played in his true position anyway , but what I AM saying is that he IS a defensive midfielder.
And it would be a damn sight better to have a specialist playing there instead of this concocted double pivot of JWP/Soucek every game ensuring our midfield gets over run most weekends.

(There that’s for Flairon too as he obviously didn’t understand what I was getting at ).

Of course. If a club wants to seriously compete decent cover for ll positions is a pre requisite.

And I did get that your comment was for Flairon. But as we both know there are those who assume anything good = Steidten, anything bad = Moyes. Hence my comment re whodunnit.
