The difference was the subs, they had great subs who directly affected the result we had........Johnson who puts in effort but must be a descendant of Dracula coz he seems scared of crosses and poor old Cornet, that was it. As mentioned, if we had a stronger squad, we might have beaten the Huns.
It's one of the numerous reasons Moyes has to go. These days it's a squad game but he likes a small squad. That and his refusal to see that when needed we can play decent attacking stuff but his default option is low-block boredom. Add to that his refusal to bring the kids through.

Oh.......and he's a cunt.

In fairness other than the one on one they haven’t laid a glove on us 2nd half…..we’ve just run out of steam and once again been let down by no fuckin subs….its bizarre
Credit to Leverkusen for demonstrating how to manage a game in the second half though. So much more effective than humping it upfield.

To be fair I was expecting us to lose tonight but I thought overall we played well and made a game of it.

Stronger squad ? , how about an actual squad , 4 of the 1st team are out on loan ( Trott , Kehrer , Downes and Benrahma ) , with youngsters Laing and Mubama added to make up the numbers , and another 5 kids on the bench tonight , couldnt make it up .

One little thing bothers me. Will the dwarf look at that game and think Moyes CAN throw the shackles off and offer him a contract under his terms ?

Because he won't. He'll be the same as usual.

Can't disagree. We have a ridiculously small squad and to make matters worse players like Cornet have hardly been used at all so to expect them to come into a game with 15 minutes left and make an impact is a non starter. And you make a good point about the subs. Alonso was able to bring on subs to imfluence the way the game was going. A fully match ready Cornet might have been able to do that but the rest ? Not a chance.

I wonder what might have been if Cresswell hadn’t absolutely shat himself and turned his back on Frimpong just as he pulled the trigger ?
Bring back Jonathon !

If only the Moyesasauras would play that way every game.

Atmosphere was electric last night, due to the attacking intent of the team, and the early goal really helped as well.

Shame 2nd half Ref decided to ruin the game, and Leverkusen used it to their advantage to slow everything down.

If he did this attacking intent every game the atmosphere wouldn’t be so sterile on PL match days.
It’s not what you do it is the way that you do it.

watched on the box and defo the best atmosphere this season, place was rocking.
would love to see the 1st half every week, problem being we'd also see the 2nd half when half of them were running on empty trying to keep up that level of pressing. Would give a special mention to JWP (although i wanted him subbed) and alvarez who had to be subbed as he was gone in the last 20 mins. both worked their bollox off. Ref wasn't great but cant take away from BL finding a way to protect their record.
We missed a proper play maker and alvarez hitting aimless passes and koudos running down blind alleys weren't the answer.
think the season is toast tbh and its going to be an interesting summer. If they keep moyes they alienate half the fanbase and if they dont get another in early its a summer wasted without new players and time for a new man to make his mark.
