Resemblance to Voldemort aside, Shelvey has been carrying a bad thigh injury for two months. He made a brief appearance in the cup last weekend and played well by all accounts but the injury once again flared up and he went to a specialist in Barcelona. So to think the dwarf would cough up 20m plus for another crock is fanciful.

I rate Shelvey and if he got his shit together could compete for an England spot. And if he does sort the injury out I'd welcome a move in the Summer.

But for now, think again.
£20 million for Shelvey. :o I don't bloody well think so. You may be right about him getting his shit together but IF is a very big word.

To put it in perspective if I got my shit together I'd have a fucking big pile of shit.

We get done over left , right and center , how can he be worth £20m and Obiang less then £10m .

He scores more goals, makes loads more assists and can pass a ball; all of which are seen as positives. Obiang is not strong in any of those departments, especially the first two. Unfortunately Shelvey has a bad attitude, very suspect temper, is slow and lazy; none of these attributes you can accuse Obiang of. Unfortunately the former attributes are more highly sought after than the latter.

He's hardly a prolific goalscorer. 6 goals during his spell at Newcastle in close to 100 appearances. He is English of course which always means a premium price.

Imo anyone paying £20 million for Shelvey is being turned over big time. As you have correctly pointed out, although much more politely, the bloke seems to be a Grade A tosser.

A few years ago I would have said yes, but not now. If we are going to spend money for a Noble replacement, then for the love of Christ; spend it on a younger player.

I'd prefer we spent the money on a better one tbh. ;)

But if this is true we have to give Pellegrini the benefit of the doubt. He's earned that.

A few years ago ? yeah when he was 18 . Not sure you could call 26 over the hill , but would prefer a player with a better temperament . Dont even think he has the skill set we require to partner Rice .

I agree wholeheartedly, he is one of the last players I would ever bring to the club. I think we should avoid him like the plague!

Anyway, this Almiron bloke.
Far to lightweight for our league, a good player don't get me wrong, but spends more time grazing like the hyena at Palace.
No way ready for the premier imho.

Funny, that was my original assessment of the fella and that he was very left footed Having watched him for 2 seasons, I now believe his speed and touch would be good enough for any league in the world, but he would have to be taught to stay on his feet more. That said, he plays the same position as Pam, so unless we're just signing for depth at this point I would spend the money that Atlanta Utd want for him in other areas of need.
