I'll nominate Ray Houghton.

One major mistake Lyall made when manager imo was not recognising the talent that bloke had. Back then we occasionally took in the reserve games and he was always a stand out at that level but only ever got 30 minutes for us as a sub at Highbury. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I met him down the driving range at Chingford , some years back. Also met Zola over the sidcup driving range.
No idea why but i high fived Zola as he was walking past me. Let him know i was a west ham fan and he smiled.

Tony Gale was certainly a defender that had bit of class about him... we certainly have been blessed with a lot of proper footballers down the years. Just haven’t done much with them unfortunately.
