I'm heading over from Ireland to this one and considering it will be my first visit I'm thinking of taking my SLR camera but I've read that cameras are not permitted at games. can someone please confirm what the club policy for supporters taking photos inside the stadium. thanks I'd appreciate your help and info. COYI.

Welcome mate

Gonzo will be your best bet to answer this question.

You are more than welcome to pop along wherever we are for a beer or two, more than likely the Railway Tavern

SLR's are actually banned at most sporting events however I tend to take mine everywhere and have never been stopped at West Ham, Ashes test matches or the rugby and even recently at Wembley.

That being said I have always carried the largest lens separately and only had a small one on the camera.

To be honest though mate much depends on the stewarding at any given event but all I'd suggest is that you do not record (and certainly not broadcast) the game footage itself.

My best advice if you want to take a camera into sporting events is to buy a LUMIX GX7 which is a compact camera but does everything a DSLR does, has interchangeable three quarter lenses and outperforms many cameras that cost £2000 . . . . . . . And it's a damn site easier than carting a DSLR around.

Good luck and safe journey mate.

Nice to see someone using a camera instead of a phone though :D

Officially : Not allowed

Unofficially, no one will do anything unless you have a detachable lens, then they are likely to get heavy with you....stick to a point and click with a decent lens and you will be fine.
