Have the owners moved the club forward?

Post by 21212 » Sun Jun 23, 2019 10:01 am

Not popular owners, but:
No real threat of relegation
Fairly big wage payers
Waiting list for season tickets
National exposure

The season before Sullivan bought the club we finished 9th. Last season we finished 10th, albeit with one more point than in 2008/09. So despite having appointed 4 managers during the period in between the answer has to be no they haven't.

They took over a mid table Premier League club and we are still a mid table Premier League club.

TRADITION--Just because we've always done it like this doesn't mean it's not incredibly SILLY

Not fantastic mate, but when in the last 30 years have you been as certain we are not getting relegated?

Half a season of comfort is hardly a step forward. And if you want an example of the last time we were sure we werent going to be relegated, try the last season at The Boleyn.

To be fair i think the competition is much higher now mate. Not so much the top 4 , the teams around mid table. Palace, Watford, Bournemouth , etc etc. You cannot compare 2008/09 to 2019 in the Premier League.
Very decent players used to target the top 6. Now they are filtering down the sides because them sides are able to pay the wages like us.

The reason i believe we have advanced is that now we have 2 very solid central defenders and one decent back up. We have 2 options at left back and 2 at right back. Rice has grown into that midfield role and we have talented playmakers in Lanzini, Anderson, Pablo Fornals, Whilshire and Yarmelenko. The Goalie has been outstanding also. We are only 2-3 players away from Everton who are in that top 10 every season. We are deffo making strides in the right direction. When was the last time we had a manager that fitted Pellegrini,s profile? They are paying him 8 Million a year.

Sorry 10 Million. That fact alone tells me they are serious about advancing us up that progress ladder.
West Ham United have named Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager. ... The Chilean arrives from Chinese Super League side Hebei China Fortune and is understood to have agreed a £10m-per-year salary at the London Stadium making him one of the highest paid managers in England.

We've only moved forward in the last season. Now that may be placed firmly at the feet of Pellegrini and Husillos, but to be fair, Sullivan hired them, funded them, and has for the most part let them get on with it. Prior to that it was the same shambles it's ever been at West Ham United FC.

Communism deprives no man of the power to appropriate the products of society; all that it does is to deprive him of the power to subjugate the labour of others by means of such appropriations.
