This transfer teams done well this season with Fornals and now Haller. Last season they got in Anderson Diop and Balbuena so its nice to see a change from just bringing in loads of players who mostly turn out to be shit which weve been doing since Twitchys days.

Morning, 2 outfield players I have never seen play and 2 33 year old keepers, who isnt as good as the one we sold.

I will reserve judgement til later .
I must admit whilst I can understand us bringing in Roberto as back up I couldn't see an upside to bringing in Martin. From the kittle I've seen of Martin, which I admit is very little, if both Fabianski and Roberto get injured I'd rather see Trott recalled from his loan spell at Wimbledon.

Got to agree with Parry on this one. I'd rather see us target players who appear to have genuine class and potential, than simply bring in a basket full of blokes based on a few video clips like we have done since the Dildos arrived. Or the Redknapp "bare bones" strategy of bringing in players on agent's recommendations, allegedly accompanied by buff coloured envelopes.
and slowly but surely the average age of the squad is decreasing. That does not guarantee it but it may mean a few less injuries. I know we have Wilshere but I think he is worth the gamble we took.

Don't agree. Rice got his chance because he is good enough. It was obvious at 18 that the kid had genuine talent. So he was given his chance and has proved everyone right. Cullen has been out on loan for the past 2 or 3 seasons and still hasn't really made a massive impact. Simply putting him in the first team won't transform him into the next Declan Rice.

Imo cream usually rises to the top and above average young players will get their chance early, just as DR did.
Declan was given the opportunity due to the injuries we sustained (Sanchez was Pelle's 1st choice for DM), but he'd been training with the 1st team squad and learning from them. Some players need a couple of seasons out on loan before their ready to be part of the squad.
He had already played a few games at CB before this under Bilic.

Happy to see all my concerns were for nought. :D

Let's hope he is half as good as the hype.

Young Grady will be player of the year one day.

Probably Swindon's.
Had you said that about Cullen I might have agreed but to be fair Diangana is only 21 and looks to have the skillset to succeed. My reservation about him at the moment concerns his strength and bottle. Which is why I think a season out on loan, somewhere where barring injury or form loss, he would be a starter, would do him good. If he stays at our place he's only going to be a bit part player which can only add to the pressure when he does get an opportunity.
That's the thing. Bottle. I don't think he's got it. He'll have the occasional brilliant game but disappear up his own arsehole the next.

If any academy player is good enough they will get a chance.Very tough for them obviously because the Premiership is the toughest league in Europe right now. You don,t get long on the ball to make a decision whether thats your half or their last third.
