Have to get game time into the squad mate. No point in taking them otherwise. Sanchez will be a bench warmer i hope this season.

   Snodgrass a DM , sorry to split my sides laughing but come on we need some pace in there , we got noble to partner Rice when he's able to  , then Sanchez in my book well past it when we got him , then Obiang who hopefully is on his way to another club , Wilshere who in my book is a accident waiting to happen sorry to say . We need new blood in there , was hoping it would be seen as a priority this window and thought it was with the rumours that Cuellar was joining us . Depends on the system we play I suppose .

rice is the dm.. or anchor to be more specific.. his partner will be the more adventurous of the two deeper midfielders, more box to box.. snodgrass has been playing there for parts of last season mostly down to his energy.. but he is a good makeshift fit to play there, reliable in possession, decent passer, good engine... and his set pieces are a valuable bonus

but we really need a specialist in there and can't see anyone coming in until we let one of our midfielders go as we are already bloated there.. lacking real quality, fortunately we have plenty of offers for obiang so he's going to be heading out..

i think for ~10m we can get a starter there, no doubt the manuel and mario have a number of suitors lined up.. some very interesting frees as well.. i think we'll improve here, just have to do that deal for the inconsistent and probably unhappy obiang

for me noble and cullen are fine for depth

sanchez to add depth to the anchor role but my faith is rapidly declining in him.. he looks awful at the moment... constantly getting caught in possession, far too casual.. and see him push sterling in the box after he got completely past him.. jesus fucking christ.. i suspect pellegrinis confidence is just about gone as well.. been absolutely awful this pre-season

"This pre season" is 2 matches FFS and he didn't play the full game in either.. I agree with you he hasn't looked the part but we have to remember he missed virtually all last season because of injury.

Noble is fine for next season imo. He is an exellent passer and his tackling judgement has gotten a LOT better with age, could even play Lanzini there. Or do we want to play 2 of the Rice type?

Don't write Mark off yet.

That said, I`m not a fan of 2 defensive midfielders, why ? because its too defensive imo, BUT, we unfortunately will be playing that formation, so, imo we need a box to box midfielder with pace to sit next to whoever the boss decides is our BEST defensive midfielder, not necessarily Rice, who I believe has to dramatically improve his allround game or he will be replaced by a seasoned foreigner in the next window.

I watched Fornals in the Under 23 championships recently and he usually started in the Lampard style role. Spain had a guy called Oyazarbal who started wide left but was normally replaced as the game went on and Fornals then switched to the left. So it wouldn't surprise me if Fornals is earmarked for the box to box role you refer to.

Morning, I hope your right, the only new signing I have seen play is the keeper Martin,
