Offside rule

Post by rhodesiron » Sat Aug 10, 2019 7:23 pm

Ok, we were all happy to see the Jesus goal disallowed because Sterling's finger was offside but nothing is said about the fact that Jesus was standing 2 yards ahead of him!!

I spent my whole football career as a centre half & the first thing that was drilled into you is that you all move up as a unit.

So obviously the rules have changed now, but as I see it, if you all move up to play the trap & one of the attackers doesn't bother, how are you supposed to get back & defend.

Absolute bollocks!!

Dont really grasp what you are getting at, if you mean opponants, then sooo, hes offside as soon as the ball is played his way. Should be argued should he be called offside if hes not affecting play blah blah, go back to the old rules, but doubt it will happen because some of the newer ones are designed to save time.

Cant call you offside if a finger is the only part between him and the last defeder. :) Unless theyve changed that rule also.

Talking about Jesus. As far as I'm concerned, he was 2 yards offside, then put the ball in the net.

The commentary I listened to was in Arabic but I assumed VAR called it because of Jesus .

Having been 2 or 3 yards offside how was he not interfering with play yet Sterling was ?

I have to admit I really hate this rule and not sure how it’s imposed. So your not offside if your not interfering with play… (more like if you never received the initial pass) but if the pass to you then is a onside pass, this is fine and the goal stands.

I’m sorry but for me the player has interfered with the defensive structure of the defending team. He’s offside when the balls played. I wished we went back to that and I think it’s something we get caught out a lot with being so high up the pitch. Your allowing teams to say to slower strikers to move offside, get a head start in the push while fast wingers break the offside trap. It’s certainly part of the game that I’ve seem ManC use to their advantage well. I think Pellegrini needs to adjust to this better.

I think you'd get strong support for that mate. New rule is ridiculous.

They showed it on the big screen mate. It was coz of sterling’s left nostril hairs being ahead of the defender. I guess Jesus woulda been called offside after that but the decision, the var and all the bullshit was coz of Sterling. Stupid really, shoulda just said Jesus offside then move on but instead we had var fucking about trying to decide if sterling was or not.
