Football clubs are businesses, if you don't balance the books you go under. Too many clubs trying to step up too fast
Right. They see the riches of the division above and with the fans constantly bleating about net spend these days they will sometimes think if they spend a lot, the fans will be happy and they will guarantee going up.

We all know football does not work like that and so when they don't they are fucked. Teams like QPR put players on huge contracts when in the PLK as had no relegation clause so they had to keep paying those wages in the champ.

Look at Burnley, when they came up they were cautious, didn't spend too much and went down again but it meant they could come straight back up the following season as they didn't have expensive players to lose. They are well run.

But David Gold was never on the books of Bury in 1895 so the spin would never work.

There is something inherently wrong with an owner who purchased the club for a quid demanding 870k for it when it is about to go out of business ffs.

I'm not sure about that mate. Obviously demanding and getting are two different things but it sounds like the old nice work if you can get it scenario. ;)

Sadly it looks very much as if his attitude will see Bury go out of business.

Might sound heartless but tbh I hope they do. Bolton as well. As I've said earlier in the thread I think continually propping up these basket cases who overspend is bloody unfair on clubs lower down the pyramid who live within their means and are denied the opportunity of advancing because of the Burys and Boltons of this world.

But sadly as always seems to happen some sod will come riding over the hill at the last minute to bail them out.
