Newport County v West Ham United Official Match Thread

Post by BlackDiamond » Mon Aug 26, 2019 5:47 pm

Here we go, an opportunity to impress the football public with our own special way of doing stuff the hard way.

A Tuesday night televised 2nd round cup game,courtesy of Sky and http://www.hammerstv.com/htv.htm 0ption 2.

Those who wish to see an unchanged team from Saturday - look away now

That's not going to happen and with some nervousness - a bit like with uncertain companions - we will have to accept that everybody needs a bit of a run out

Out will go, Haller,Anderson,Lanzini and in will come Sanchez and Snoddy...and that's just a taster

Lineup probably not too dissimilar as this:

Roberto
Zaba dabba
Cresswell
Diop
Balbuena
Sanchez
Rice
Wilshere
Fornals
Yarmolenko/Antonio - 45 mins each
Hernandez/Ajetski - 55/35 mins each

Prediction - 1-3 away win

Apparently Hernandez is not fit to start Tuesday and there is a strong rumour - in some quarters - that Haller will be selected.

That seems wishful thinking. I would bet Antonio starts and Ajetski is introduced in the second half.

This news however, had raised my confidence and I now predict a 1-4 away win

Really looking forward to this...I love the league cup.

First visit to their new ground, expecting a warm welcome from the taffies. Expect a close game and a lively atmosphere.

Would like to see a couple of the youngsters get a run.

After defeats at Wimbledon and Wigan in the past 2 seasons, let`s hope we take the competition more seriously.

That`s means, playing our regular first teamers. If we play our reserves and go out,I will be so annoyed.I don't care what anybody says,I want to win a Cup..Finishing 6th or 7th means f*ck all too.

PLEASE MP,lets go for it.

I heard Haller was being rested and Ajeti would be playing up front as Hernandez is injured.

Would like to see Johnson and Holland play as well. Looking forward to it.

You won't . . . . well not unless you're going over to his house for tea.
