I put my money on Liverpool NOT being chucked out of Carabao Cup?

Post by terrya1965 » Sat Sep 28, 2019 2:37 pm

Liverpool could face expulsion from the Carabao Cup if they are found to have fielded an ineligible player in the victory against MK Dons on Wednesday.

Remember what happened to us?We had to replay against Aston Villa in 1999 and ended up losing the tie, after thinking we were in the Semi-Finals.

I bet they just get a fine and tap on the wrist.

The bigger clubs normally always get away with it,so i think it would be one big surprise if they were kicked out.Would be fair,if they replayed it,like we did.

We will have to wait and see.

As you say there is a precedent and I expect Liverpool to have to replay the match as we did. Any idea how the player was ineligible ?

It's to do with breaching international clearance. He is a Spanish Liverpool player who has been out on loan for 3 seasons in the Dutch and Spanish leagues.

If Liverpool are sanctioned it will be a small fine which was the penalty given to Sunderland in 2014 following a similar transgression.

Storm in a teacup stuff it seems. Not really the same as Twitchy's monumental cock up over Omoyinmi.

A fine. Half of which is suspended.
How come we had to replay the tie when we fielded an ineligible player?
One rule for the dippers another for everyone else...

Communism deprives no man of the power to appropriate the products of society; all that it does is to deprive him of the power to subjugate the labour of others by means of such appropriations.

I said it all along.

If you are one of the big clubs, the Footballing bodies basically turn a blind eye.

If they said to Liverpool, you have to replay the game(which Klopp said it was the last thing he wanted),they`d have said,"No we are not, stick it up your Arseholes.Give Arsenal a bye to the next Round and we won't be taking part in your competition until further notice".

Big clubs do what they like.Look at Man U in 2000,when they pulled out the FA Cup,they were allowed to participate the year after with no qualms or consequences. If that would have been us or a Crystal Palace,we'd have been banned for 3 years.
