Legends Tour

Post by palerider » Wed Jan 08, 2020 9:35 am

My daughter, in her infinite wisdom, bought me a Legends Tour experience day for the Iconic London Stadium which I've just booked.

I'm going on Easter Sunday so with the holiday rail service I imagine it will take me an hour now from Somerset, but the legend conducting the tour is Alan Taylor.

I'd have preferred Gary Breen but the man who scored the goals that won us the cup in 75 is a good alternative.

Can you get the boat to open just for me Gonzo ?

Didn't he also score 2 in the quarter and semi finals ? Then his career disappeared without trace.

But I suppose having actually done that and won something with the club he's more deserving of "legend" status than someone like Julian Dicks FFS.

TRADITION--Just because we've always done it like this doesn't mean it's not incredibly SILLY

In my eyes, his a legend and should be in man, imo.

Has the famous commentary says
"Two in the Quarters,2 in the Semi`s and now 2 in the Final..Nobody would even write this, even in a fictional book..A sweet return from Rochdale for £40,000"-David Coleman.

We have won just FOUR major Trophies in our 125 year history and he scored ALL them goals in last 3 Rounds of then, the most famous competition in the world at the time.

But a legend ?

in the same breath as Moore, Brooking, Bonds & Breen

Good servant, but legend, never in a million years

The following season,he was our top scorer with 17.

I don`t think anyone our age, will ever forget Taylor. What he done in 1975 is written deep in our history.

Legend to me.

The first 3 played for West Ham all their lives and did pick up Trophies.Rightly,so proper utter legends.

Has I said,we have won just 4 major Trophies in our history and for one them,Taylor was the main reason why we lifted the Cup in 75.
Yes,he was only at West Ham 5 years(that`s a lifetime now),but his a major part of our history. He scored ALL our 6 goals leading up to and including the Final.

Let`s go back to 1975 and think, how big the Cup was then..Every boy`s dream was to score the winner in an FA Cup Final..Not the World Cup or European Cup Final. That is how it was back then.No matter was anybody says, that is how it was.I remember them days.Anybody my age or older will tell you the same.

Nowadays, getting to a Champions League was equivalent to them times. The same feeling has Liverpool and Spurs felt last summer, were similar feelings on how fans felt about the FA Cup in them times.
So if a player did what he did in the CL for us,would he be a legend?

I rest my case.

Taylor and Phil Parkes hosted my last tour of the Boleyn. Taylor was a gent, and clearly loved the club. Parkes was brilliant too. (They also took the piss out of Brady, which made me love them more).
