Read all about it!

Post by Bob Collison » Sat Feb 08, 2020 2:01 pm

Not much team news in the papers today, maybe most football journo's are having a winter break as well. Everything West Ham in the media is about the inept running of the club, I bet Sully & Co regret going on the attack against the Sunday Supplement. They are getting caned on every medium, radio, TV, papers and online, some commentators are still trying to hold the line defending the Board but the tide has turned and you can see the war is lost for them.
The bluffers have well and truly hit the buffers, the media has eventually and rightly shone the spotlight on them, just their luck really that they decided to alienate the press as there is a break in actual football so the journalist and commentators have abundant column inches to fill. Mind you foresight and diplomacy aren't traits you associate with our Board.
There will be some self denial driven by self interest but in the sad but likely scenario that West Ham are relegated the blame will be cast on them as it should be and they will have to accept it in some shape or form.
The next level comments, the interference in player recruitment, the lack of vision, planning or ethos, the move to the London Stadium, the absurd claims of a 50,000 waiting list for season tickets and the constant turmoil they bring will all be held against them.
Then there will be the post relegation problems, the exodus of players and the 60,000 seater stadium with 25,000 in it come a cold rainy Wednesday night in January but to name the obvious.
They won't like not being able to sit at the high table of the Premier League and they will be terrified of the financial hit of the championship without the lucrative TV and sponsorship money from the Premier League and then it will become apparent to them that the London Stadium move has become the noose they placed around their own necks.
Like most things they do connected to football, their running of West Ham may well come back to savagely bite them on the arse as I don't see anyone wanting to bale them out of their predicament by buying a debt ridden, second tier football club who doesn't own its own ground whose fans now swing between indifference to outright revolt.
I will have no sympathy for them but for all us fans I'm still looking forward to Mondays sporting headline of WEST HAM SHOCK CITY WITH 3-0 WIN.
COYI!

I've never forgiven Oliver Holt over the Tevez saga but he's partly righted past wrongs with that.

Funny how journos suddenly become Pulitzer prize candidates when they write something agreeable isn't it ?

Wouldnt so much say agreeable, more truthful and to the point. Truth hurts agreed, some of us find it hard to swallow, but its also good not to be on the receiving end of damning truths.
