How do you think that Australia and New Zealand have both managed to keep death numbers so low...?

Both countries locked down early in the viral cycle, closed borders, data traced, tested lots and instituted strict social distancing. The numbers speak for themselves
Sweden no lock down, Belgium severe lockdown

Comparing nations is flawed
Sweden having the highest signal occupancy housing in Europe stops spreading of virus straight away you would think.
Yet Has the highest rate of death per capita over the last few days.

True.

Statistics can be made to look in your favour whatever side of the spectrum you're from however but the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

Not at all, just common sense. Feel free to tell me which part of any of that is factually incorrect.

But as my wife goes to work each day to help save the lives of the likes of you, I'll tell her not to bother now as it's all a big myth
What a stupid post, never said it was a myth, ever. It really pulled on the heart strings though.

When you say the likes of you, do you mean

A UK resident who can use the national health service

A UK tax payer that pays your wife's wages

Or someone who is statistically more likely to be hit by lightening and die, than die of covid-19?

Time to get back to the initial conversation, if or when English football will be reinstated.

Isn't it strange that SARS pretty much completely left us unscathed (24 deaths if I remember correctly) but killed 100,000 in the US.
Anyone might think that viruses are unpredictable??

USA deaths Covid-19 currently stand at 97,426.

But it is ok, they probably didn’t offer much to society in your words.

It’s not what you do it is the way that you do it.

Can't really disagree with any of the points you guys are making...they're all valid...

There's no "Correct" way of handling this...it's unprecedented...so you try and pick the logical path
...We have an infectious virus sweeping the country....it's new,we have no vaccines,no known treatments,
and it can contribute to killing people...which ever way you look at it, our death rates in the UK are
the highest they've been in peacetime....over this present period....But..
Will that death rate continue as we slowly get shot of Corvid...as we will..because of the lack of
time and treatments not given to Non Corvid related illnesses...Cancers etc...
Because people are not getting their treatments or reporting problems....thats down to Corvid as well.
So long term...theres a chance a good chance....more people will die from non Corvid illnesses.

So where's the Balance and line in what actions you take...no one knows yet, prob never will..

Thats without the Economics of it....or the personal stuff....people losing their jobs...etc.
Think Economically it wont be as bad as a lot of us think...because it'll be a worldwide Economic
downturn...it's a leveller...not like it's just ours....if we're sensible...short term it's gonna be
a nightmare for some...no getting away with that, but 12/18 months things will hopefully turn
around.
Businesses will open up again and restart....Airlines good example 18 months we'll all be flying
again.

Personally think a form of lockdown was a no brainer...it's pretty much a given more would have died
with out it....but maybe went to far and a bit of panic mode set in...

But theres a hell of a lot of kids...have enjoyed no School, and a lot of us enjoyed sitting in our
gardens in the sunshine on 80% of our wages...

Everyone has a different story and sees it differently as well..
