Re: Sullivan's claim that Sporting Lisbon's late acceptance of the offer did not give West Ham time to arrange a medical, I was under the impression that, as long as the deal paperwork was submitted before the deadline, stuff like medicals could follow afterwards without any problem.

UPDATE: Whoops, point already made in another thread. Sorry.

Sullivan wants to put a guy through a medical who has scored and assisted when apparently unfit?

I doubt our medicals are particularly stringent considering Kieron Dyer and Andy Carroll passed them

Thing is , and this is an argument aimed at last summers debacle , what happens when you buy a hundred new players and expect them to instantly gel as a unit ?

3 maybe 4 good players designed to step into the first team and instantly improve our starting eleven is , in theory , fair enough and I can see where Bilic was coming from .

So they was never going to go out and buy 15 more cos of what happened last year .

What I would say is what has to be questioned is Bilic's choice of players in this window .

I know it's too early to judge , I've said it myself on other threads and probably this one as well , but I didn't think they were either the right choices of player or good enough generally .
Even for little old West Ham :)

Hart . Is he REALLY an improvement on Adrian ? Jury out .
Zabaleta . His legs had gone last season , played out of position at first and then dropped by Guardiola . Wise choice or cos he was "free"?
Arnautovic . Well , he's already shown what he is and is famous for it .
That and his inconsistencies. £24m ? Really ? Even in the present climate ? Jury out .
Hernandez is a fantastic player as he's already shown at St Marys.
But up top alone ? With our midfield ?

No knee jerking here my friends , I was saying it before we signed em and until proven otherwise no reason to change my mind .

So what do we need ?

A defensive midfielder ? Yeah of course but who really identified the need for that position ?

Not Bilic that's for sure . It's only our defensive frailties that have highlighted it . Everyone , well , most  was perfectly happy with Obiang but he's NOT really a DM , not in the true sense of the word in current footballing trends but there's no denying that all the top teams have one .

A number 10 . Did the club really expect to rely on Lanzini for ALL of its creativity ?

And where the fuck is our second striker we was promised ffs ?

It really has been a shambles hasn't it ?

And it's not about the net spend or lack of it as we got a very good deal with Hernandez didn't we ?
Bargains ARE still possible but we didn't address half of what should have been addressed .

All because of last summers scattergun approach to transfers and Bilic's disinterest in the Europa league where the Nordveits and Feghoulis probably would have earns their crust .

I would say it's 50% down to Sullivan's frugality and lack of true ambition and 50% the fact that Bilic couldn't spot a player if his job depended on it ....

As he will no doubt discover shortly .

True but not last season Clay when our defence was equally bad
True we've had people coming on here counting off Noble and Obiang but without really coming up with a solution to the problem because they are all decent players when playing in their true positions they are suited to , none are DM's are they ?

Christ , Noble looked great 2 seasons ago knocking little 1-2'd around with Payet just outside the oppositions box and now he gets stick , they ALL get stick cos they ain't capable of stopping Man City steamroll through them .

I'm just waffling now but I'm SO FUCKING MAD and it's unusual for me to get upset over a game.
It's always been about the day out and the socialising and entertainment value for me which is why I hate the Cuntosaurus but this pantomime is just getting worse by the day .

I think I need a lie down now :D

Strange you use Quina, but don't mention Rice who has played a part in all games this season.
Question do we have 2 players for each position?
No denying Rice has played , but will he still be used after he was taken off in the last game . As far as I am concerned it was a ridiculous move to make , firstly it was his first mistake and secondly it was a poor pass from Ogbonna that put Rice under pressure .

Your question Do we have 2 players for every position , it should be do we have 2 decent players for every position in our ideal formation . Because once theirs a injury to any of our 1st eleven we are in trouble . Example I have no idea what Ayew is , I know he has no pace , Arnie is a inside left , or maybe LW . Hernandez cannot play up front on his own , Carroll is he fit ? , and which of the Sakhos are we going to get if he ever plays again , so at the moment we have 1 striker . Now with Reid having another one of the many injuries he gets , we look forward to having to rely on the likes of Collins/Fonte which doesnt fill me with much optimism . As for our creative player Lanzini , who do we have to come in if he is ever injured ? oh wait hes out for 4 weeks , Fernandes dont think hes ready . Zabs is a RB and was a good one once , his age is starting to show , actually it was before we got him , Byram he is no RB he is a RWB maybe even a RW , so wouldnt say we actually had 2 RBs .Look at the game against Man Utd why were their 5 defenders on the bench where were the youngsters then ok Rice was there but hes thought of as a CB which is where he prefers to play , where were the outfield players or the likes of Holland , Martinez , Quina to name a few? . We all have our own opinions , but I really dont think yours holds up mate .
So basically you are agreeing with me, because if you read my opening post properly. I said we have two for each position and the real question should be are they good enough?

No not agreeing    your original statement was ,

I'm not having this our squad is barebones, we have 2 for each position apart from RW.
It should be is what we have good enough.

Funny how those who are screaming our squad is barebones are not including our u23's but were moaning that Bilic never uses them. :?:
Funny old game.

As I see it , Our squad is down to the barebones as it does not having enough players who meet the required level to play in this league , whether we have 2 in every position or not , doesnt actually mean they are good enough , especially with our injury prone players . As for our U23s how can they be included , how many times have they actually been on the bench and used by Slav .

So what you are saying is that we have 2ish for each position, but only halfish are good enough at this level. You are excluding U23 players because Slav don't use them whether you think they good enough or not. And that is why we are down to barebones?

Yet my statement is we have two for each position, it should be is they good enough?
What's the difference?
Only difference I can see is I'm including the number of players as squad members whether they good enough or not. Think you could do that for all premier league clubs outside the top 7 from last year.
