Just surmising, but it would enter my thinking,if a potential buyer...plus we don't know if they
had some inside Info on the Iconic that no one else knew...again surmising

Everyone knew the Olympics were coming to London at that time and so everyone knew there would be a stadium built to hold them in. I would be very surprised if the future of that stadium wasn't very much in the thinking of any of the groups who were doing due diligence on the club at the time.

And I'd bet there were very few people gullible enough, even then, to believe all the "We're West Ham Fans" bollocks that was being touted around even back then.

Oh yeah certainly mate, crossed my mind before there was mention of us,got really excited
if i'm honest.......But it's the degree of insider knowledge that's the factor..

So many ifs and buts....did they deliberately sit back and let the Spuds and Hearn scupper us
buying it,knowing a rental deal could be in the offing.....lots of shit goes on we don't know about...

Spuds never had any intention of moving there IMO,was just to stop a Business rival making
what they saw as a good deal,65,000 seater stadium, encroaching on their catchment area...
Can't have that.

Maybe their shenanigans fell right into Sugos hands.....who knows......

"They invested to sell Upton Park, move into a large, cheap stadium and to make huge profit. They did not invest to save our bacon."

Exactly...back on the old footymad board thats what a lot of us said then and werent wrong about.
They probably had us in their sights for ages, they would have people ITK that would have been updating them for years on what was going on , all through their time at Brum...

They did not save us...

So I’ll save my own gratitude for someone who comes in with some genuinely good intentions and/or with a business model that actually factors in “footballing performance” alongside lining their own pockets.

They brought this club for one reason..The Olympic Stadium.

These 2 have at least DOUBLED their wealth since they have brought us and that`s without the money made if they sold us.

Grateful, thankful or just plain relieved (at the time). Whichever works.

There were two moments during their 8 odd years where the current owners had the very real opportunity to back up their words.

Firstly, appointing a manager to replace Allardyce. Now we all saw the names mentioned. An innovator in Bielsa, solid, and high end in Mancini, and a man with a track record of winning trophies with an unfashionable team, Emery. Exciting times, eh?

Well, they decided to go with the relatively untested and inexpensive Bilic. Not ambitious by any stretch, but hardly the final nail in the coffin either.

No that nail came off the back of the final season at the Boleyn. Now here was the chance to push on. We had an inspired, creative player pulling the strings, and pretty solid back-up all over the pitch. All we needed, all we really wanted, was a top striker, and maybe a couple of other quality additions to push on again. Much was promised. A marquee signing. Lacazette, Batshuayi, Bacca, and a host of other names were mentioned. The rumours were even more ambitious -- £50m+ for Madrid's James.

All this and we ended up with a dozen non entities, and a loan striker who was on a contract designed for failure.

And that was it. Two moments where talk of ambition could have been made real.
The lies and duplicity have not ceased since.
Remember how moving to the OS would give us the revenue to compete with the top club's?
Now look at Sullivan insisting that revenue is 'only' a few extra million.
Lack of ambition is nothing to us, but the lying, the lying is where we should all draw a line.

Communism deprives no man of the power to appropriate the products of society; all that it does is to deprive him of the power to subjugate the labour of others by means of such appropriations.

Indeed mate, who does. What is crystal clear, and was as soon as London won the right to stage the Olympics, that the ultimate use of the stadium should have been factorerd into the costings of the whole project. Had it not become our home there would have been a real possibility that it could have been the world's most expensive Segway track, which I believe is what the Olympic Stadium in Beijing is now used for.

I would willingly swap Ashley for these clowns. At least he has experience, succesful experience at that.of running a proper business in a competitive environment. Maybe I'm out of line but I don't see making tacky porn movies, founding the Daily Sport or manufacturing cheap see through knickers and assorted inflatable merchandise as proper business.
