There will be calls to get rid even though it's doubtful anybody would want to buy him and then , when he's fit again the club will be saying how he's like a new signing blah blah blah ....

A perpetual circle mate , and with Gold tweeting yesterday that there is no such insurance , it would appear we are stuck with him.
Personally I think our football style improves when he's injured , and I think Calleri and probably Sakho will benefit from not having him around .
Bony a waste of time and money imo
Absolutely no offence taken mate and thanks for clearing up the 2is there such things as insurance" in these matters.

Im afraid I wasnt one of the " oh heres our saviour coming" for 2 reasons.

1) You almost" feel in your water" the next injury is just around the corner (and no hellish far round it)!!
2) Even if he was "fully fit" and played say 15 games in a row I genuinely wouldnt expect more than 2/3 goals from him and to be honest I think that wishful thinking!!!

Have you studied him as games go on.....hes ALMOST GUARANTEED to be spending more time in his own box.

You could argue "he sback helping out defending".

I would venture "if he was fit and great at holding the ball up and doing what hes supposed to be doing" there would be a lot less need for him (and us) to be on the back foot so much!!!

Guess hes going to "divide opinion" and I truly believe he wants to play football....BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS HE CANNOT GET HIMSELF INTO A FIT ENOUGH CONDITION AND MAINTAIN IT!!!

As for "impact sub" etc Im sorry....but if im paying somebody what hes almost certainly getting paid I WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO PLAY 90 MINS OF EVERY GAME!!!!
I think it might have been the match thread but I said earlier (as have others) that if he had played yesterday he would have been in OUR box at the very moment Noble sent that killer pass to Calleri in the last minute .

Carroll can be effective but he's only suitable imo for Dinosaur football and for THAT reason rather than his injuries that I have wanted rid for a long time.

Let's put it this way , that Cretacous Cunt will be a lot more gutted about this latest injury than I am....

I agree with the first point you make regarding feeling the next injury is just around the corner but I disagree with almost every other point here.

Firstly, I dont think it is because he cant get in a fit condition....these are impact injuries. The issue is his build means he will always get them however fit he is...a la Dean Ashton.

Secondly, I dont believe that we would only get 2/3 goals out of him if he played 15 games in a row. For me, when he has a number of games under his belt, he is a decent player as proven when he got that hat trick v Arsenal last season and the two v Juve this.

I also dont think it changes our style when he doesnt play....for me that is a huge myth. Yesterday, we played no different with the 5ft8 Valencia in the team and once Tore realised that he should actually beat the first man, there is no way that Valencia was ever going to connect with the crosses, nor from Masuaku or Byram who put in some decent crosses. I truly believe we would have been leading at half time if Carroll was playing at the start of yesterdays game.

However, the injuries are what they are but there is little we can do about it so its best to use him as and when we can. I thought he was the only decent player v Chelsea as it goes.....but like you say, it divides opinions.
So how would you propose to change "his build"?!

Chop 6 inches of his legs? Put 2 stone on/lose 2 stone?!

Fuck me mate surely they are getting the best of advice in this department?!

All you here about is sports science this, fitness specialist that and on and on!!

I dont recall David Cross,John Hartson etc playing 1 game in 20 for us and they were all big physical guys!!!

Take your point re Ashton but wasnt his "a 1 off injury" that he simply couldnt recover from?!

I guess the "how many goals would he score" is always conjecture.

You point out some good results regarding him.

But "overall"?!

You could always say "but if he was fit and playing"....but surely thats the whole point?!!
I didnt say I would change his build but Im just pointing out that it is nothing to do with 'him getting fit'

As far as Ashton, he had a lot of injury problems at Crewe and Norwich and then had issues at West Ham even before the Shaun Wright Phillips tackle that ended his career. We shoudl not have renewed his contract either but we did and we had to pay out a fortune.

Overall I dont doubt he has not played enough games but your point that he would only get 2/3 goals if he played 15 matches straight is in my opinion not fair...but we may never know.

I do think that people instantly assume that playing the long ball up to him is his favoured style but it is not at all. Getting crooses in from the flanks and the likes of Masuaku and Antonio yesterday put crosses in, he would almost certainly have buried. Same with Tore later on. Not only that but on Set pieces it also takes away defenders from Antonio, Reid and Collins meaning with Payet taking them we become a threat.

Anyway it is all moot as we have given the man a contract so we have to get on with it. It does seem unlikely that he wont be injury free but I dont believe that is his fault.

I think if he were injury free for a whole season he'd be a twenty plus goalscorer no doubt about it, but we'll be lucky to get 15 games out of him. Christ you only have to look how he terrorised the arse last season to see what he can do when fit.

Exactly mate.....even Juve had no idea how to deal with him and when he was given service he terrorised Chelsea last season.

And if I was 30 years younger, 10 yards faster and could dribble the ball I could be the one to supply the crosses for him!!!

Yes, but Andy Carroll would probably fall on top of you in the tunnel and end your career before you set foot on the hallowed turf. You know what he's like, the clumsy cunt.

not sure we can pull the plug entirely, however it's definately time to stop thinking of him as first or even second choice

and so does he. He tweeted - gutted to be injured, still be the 15-20 goal striker COYI

However he hasn't scored more than 7 since 2010/11.So make of that what you will.

In terms of staying fit for any normal period of time, perhaps he should curb some of his reckless bravery. He is naturally inclined to throw his body into clashes where there is always a risk of self hurt. Do that fifty times over six weeks and you get the notion that the risk factor is being given a solid road test.

We may have a problem though when he turns up for a new medical in a wheelchair. Other than that, seems like a goer.
