Crystal Palace.

When you think about it, it sounds like a like a Miami Strip Club.

But it's not a Miami Strip Club, it's an area of South London where I used to change buses at when I went ice skating in Streatham. Actually, it was more like pool skating as the centre of the ice rink was just really cold dirty water. If you went over in the middle of the rink your day was FUCKED as you then had to get two buses home, as well as walk a mile here or there in stinking wet clothes in the horrible London weather.

But I digress. We have played them 52 times, winning 20 & losing 14. Our biggest loss was 6-1 at home in 1911. The crowd was 8,000 and we were in the Southern League First Division.

Our biggest win was 1-5 in 1923 (Vic Watson got 4) & 4-0 IN 1972. Brooking got a brace & the team was Bobby Ferguson, John McDowell, Bobby Moore, Tommy Taylor, Clive Charles, Frank Lampard (Snr), Trevor Brooking, Pat Holland, Clyde Best, Bryan Robson, John Ayris.

We also had a nice 4-1 win in our first game after I left the UK in 1997 and the team was Craig Forrest, Tim Breacker, Ian Pearce, David Unsworth, Rio Ferdinand, Eyal Berkovic, Stan Lazaridis, Steve Lomas, John Moncur, Samassi Abou, John Hartson.

Hartson, Berkovic, Unsworth & Lomas scored for us, Neil Shipperley for them.

Palace are currently 8th & are playing like we were last season :D

They have a striker who is scoring goals for fun and a manager who is very good at motivating attacking exciting teams (for a while). A win for them could see them up at 5th while a win for us could see us move to the heady heights of 14th (if we score a shitload).

We have an important player who may be available for this weekend. Cresswell played half a game or so the other day. I think he's our most important player not named Payet. He gives Payet the extra time needed to be brilliant more than once in a game.

I can't see a win for us at the moment. I'd be happy with any sort of draw. But I'd be really happy with a 0-0 draw seeing as we've only kept one clean sheet all season.

Obviously I'd like a win but I feel we're a few weeks away from that although we will be fine.

Palace Preview (video)

Postby redhammer » Thu Oct 13, 2016 3:03 pm

i chat with gonzo and Tom about Saturday evenings game at Palace!

One of the sides were unbeaten in 5 with this ref last season, while the other lost both their games!

Going into this weekend this player has created most chances in the league

And what about Slav? How safe is he? Do we want him gone if we lose?

What's the difference between a kangaroo & a kangaroot?
One is a kangaroo, & the other is a Geordie stuck in a lift.

Another great video guys, nice work.
I agree with Gonzo. I have a feeling that we will do Palace and win. Not sure about the clean sheet though. However, I also think we will only get one point out of the Sunderland game.

Merson has us losing 3-1 while Lawrenson has us drawing 1-1.

And some bloke named Ed Balls thinks we're going to lose 2-0.

I'm with Lawro goodpost:)
