Enjoyed that. A good work out and the lads worked for each other. Showed good team spirit. Clean sheet,no injuries, quality goals, full house attendance, everyone happy.

...and thank you Serbian TV, for never pausing for breath during the entire transmission length, ensuring the partially sighted and completely blind were also catered for.

If memory serves the format was different then. Straight knockout. We beat Osijek (Croatian team) and then lost over 2 legs to Steaua Bucharest.

How different was the format? What about the cup winners cup before I was born?

A few reflections from me for what it's worth.

From what I could make out, the atmosphere seemed good, but will like to hear from someone who was there.

Oxford has to play all season. He will make mistakes, but he'll fucking learn quick enough.

Antonio looked menacing when he pushed up top, especially first half. As said too many times, never a RB.

Can't wait to see our attacking midfield when all fully fit, with whatever no.9 we have.

But what really stood out for me, was when Bilic took Cheik off on a hatrick, he had a long word. I can only imagine it was along the lines of "sorry to take you off, but you deserve the rest, you have put us through, enjoy the applause, you were immense"

I know they weren't the greatest opposition, but having said that there were so many positive's. Biggest one for me was Nordveit, kept braking up play all over the place and also happy going forward; this allowed Kouyate to play in a more attacking role. I seriously think Chekihou could become the new improved Kolo Toure. Oxford looked assured and apart from one daft pass late on looked absolute class and he can see a pass. When attacking from deep, christ were we able to attack with lightning pace. Byram played well, significantly out of position. Antonio looked the dogs b's when attacking and Randolph looked safe at the back. Feghouli took his goal well and looks a player.

The best news is we still have Payet, Lanzini, Ogbonna and Cresswell to come in and hopefully a really mobile centre forward. I can't wait and predict a win vs the plastics on the first Monday. What a difference a week makes!

ps. even Valencia looked reasonably useful on a few occasions and I can't wait to see more of Quina and Fletcher, to say nothing of Samuelson

It will be interesting for Slaven if we get Split.

I think most if not all of the teams that failed to qualify from the champions league qualifiers join in. This is the list along with each teams Uefa co-efficient:-

Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR) coefficient 81.976
Olympiacos (GRE) 70.940
Anderlecht (BEL) 54.000
AZ Alkmaar (NED) 43.612
Fenerbahçe (TUR) 40.920
Sparta Praha (CZE) 40.585
PAOK (GRE) 37.440
Genk (BEL) 36.000
BATE Borisov (BLR) 34.000
Saint-Étienne (FRA) 26.049
Gent (BEL) 25.000
Krasnodar (RUS) 24.216
Rapid Wien (AUT) 23.520
Slovan Liberec (CZE) 22.085
Maribor (SVN) 21.625
Maccabi Tel-Aviv (ISR) 20.225
Austria Wien (AUT) 19.020
West Ham United (ENG) 16.256
Panathinaikos (GRE) 14.940
Midtjylland (DEN) 14.720
Sassuolo (ITA) 14.087
Qarabağ (AZE) 13.475
Rosenborg (NOR) 12.850
Astana (KAZ) 12.575
Astra Giurgiu (ROU) 11.076
Hajduk Split (CRO) 10.775
Arouca (POR) 10.616
Grasshoppers (SUI) 9.755
AEK Larnaca (CYP) 9.435
Vojvodina (SRB) 7.925
İstanbul Başakşehir (TUR) 7.920
Brøndby (DEN) 7.220
Crvena zvezda (SRB) 7.175
Osmanlıspor (TUR) 6.920
Slavia Praha (CZE) 6.585
IFK Göteborg (SWE) 6.475
Dinamo Tbilisi (GEO) 5.875
Lokomotiva Zagreb (CRO) 5.775
Trenčín (SVK) 5.400
Qäbälä (AZE) 5.225
Beitar Jerusalem (ISR) 4.225
SønderjyskE (DEN) 3.720
Shkëndija (MKD) 2.950
Partizani Tirana (ALB) 1.575

I'm guessing that the top teams are seeded how far down the seeding goes, god only knows. We're 16th on the list out of probably 44 (22 teams qualify I think). Anyway the draw is tomorrow and the matches start in 2 weeks (18/8)

ps. picked up from the bbc Shakhtar Donetsk, Olympiakos, Anderlecht and Fenerbahce are among those in the draw but all the clubs are seeded according to their coefficient and split into four groups.

To my understanding Rosenborg and below are unseeded. A swedish rmteam in the mix! Would be fun as thats a game i could afford to go to.. altjough id prefer to get easier opposition
