"Cannard" is ALWAYS a useful phrase. Particularly in difficult circumstances, or before, during and after le crunch rugby game is in Paris...

I found the best attempt of french for me was slightly louder English if they didn't get it the 1st time. Worked a charm

Snapping fingers helps too. They need reminding of the time when the map of the world was mostly pink.
