Every day now boatloads of migrants are landing in the EU or walking over the border with Turkey.

Very few are actually deported, even the economic migrants. Go to any resort in Spain or Italy and you'll see scores of sub-Saharan Africans peddling cheap shit because that's all there is for them to do to survive.

It's not sustainable. Most set off from Libya which is itself a hell-hole so it's inhuman to send them back there but what's really worrying is that what's happening now is a drop in the ocean compared to what will happen when climate change really sets in.

Millions upon millions of desperate people will be clamouring for safety in a continent that despite the protests of the tree-huggers, doesn't want them and can't afford them.

Fucked if I know the answer.

At some point in the not too distant future and when we've long reached saturation point, ships will be turned back forcibly and shots will be fired.

It's sadly inevitable.

When a bath-tub is full, every drop added, however tiny, makes it worse. And the liberal-left will be forced to concede the point if they want the public to vote for them.

You can't blame the migrants. It's human nature to try to better yourself, to care for your family. But what they find in Europe in most cases is poverty on a par with what they've fled from. And it makes them frustrated and angry. Not the gold covered streets they've been told about with homes and jobs for all.

We won't have the resources to feed our own, yet alone the third world.

There are those who read the Guardian that say it's our duty. Ok. Send them application forms. A dozen can bunk up with you and you'll get a small grant. Yeah right.

I won't be around to see it. But it will be ugly.
