American humour

Post by palerider » Sat Feb 01, 2020 12:23 am

Sky are championing a few US comedy programmes atm.

And in the past I've watched a few.

Cheers was great. Although the humour is different.

But the other night I watched (for 10 minutes) some shit called 'Curb your enthusiasm'. With some old twat called Larry.

What a fucking load of old cunt.

No wonder James Corden's become huge over there and I don't mean his waist size.

I love all the pommy comedies from the 60s and 70s but we've had a equal amount of American comedies here as well in the same period of time and while different certain shows have been classics as well all depends on your sense of humour and what your brought up with maybe

I've not seen much of curb your enthusiasm but Larry David co wrote Seinfeld and the George character is based on him apparently

Cheers and Taxi were good
Don’t think I’ve ever watched another Yank “comedy “show.

Before Friends came along,I didn`t think they had a sense of humour tbh.

You can`t beat the old English sense of humour.Trouble is now,it has been dumbed down by the PC Brigade.

Married With Children was very good at times.

Communism deprives no man of the power to appropriate the products of society; all that it does is to deprive him of the power to subjugate the labour of others by means of such appropriations.

I thought 2 & a Half Men was very very funny.

Don't watch too much US telly though.

Trying to think of others I've enjoyed 😆

Pale.

Sergeant Bilko
Happy Days
Soap
Golden Girls
Taxi
Mash
Roseanne
Cheers
Frasier.

These should all have tickled you..

And Seinfeld is incomparable whereas Curb Your Enthusiasm by the same writers is sporadically funny.. With most of these Soaps you have to "get" the characters before the comedy hits.
