But why is the pay shit? It doesn't have to be.
Minimum wage. It’s all they have to pay mate.
It may be minimum wage Jay but as Taaans says , it could be more ?

Especially if they want people to fill the vacancies knowing they’ll be out on their arse the minute this virus thing is over.

Minimum wage here is something like $7.25 an hour but companies, including those you listed, are hiring for over $15 while this is going on.

To be honest I would have expected Britain to be more fair & Yanks to be ripped off

There’s something like 170,000 people have VOLUNTEERED to assist the NHS out in one capacity or another over here ... free of charge .
Now THAT tells you a story doesn’t it .

It tells me that people are incredible. And love the NHS. That is pretty amazing when you think about it.

Coincidentally just as I hit sent Sky News told me that over 400,000 people have signed up for NHS Volunteer work.

Just got off phone with my sister. She's volunteered although she's very busy with work (she works for Gov.org).

She was also moaning about the stupid people in Chatham who are ignoring lockdown & trump who she thinks is dangerous.

It’s not too bad round here John , I think the only people out & about are people going food shopping or going to and from work .

The local bus services are only running an “emergency” service so each bus has 3 maybe 4 times the usual passengers.

So I walk to and from work 80 mins each way .

Wrapped up like a mummy with one of Longshanks’ ⚒ Snoods

I love walking to work. Not often an option over here.

When I lived by Clapham Junction & worked on King's Road I would stroll to work with a fat joint & pop in pubs (or Offys) on the way home.

Bloke who lived 2 doors from, & worked with, me would catch a train, tube & bus and he'd get to work all stressed out
