A Really Good Read is......Alistair Urquharts..The Forgotton Highlander...

Captured by the Japanese in Singapore,tells his story of the March to work on the River Kwai,
The Japanese "Hellship" he was later on got Torpedoed.....that's a story in itself..
Then sent to work in a mine....just outside...Nagasaki....

How the hell he survived ....Amazing Story...

They certainly went through it at the hands of them fucking animals and the rest of their lives.
My Grandad captured by the Nazis always said how lucky he was than at the mercy of them fuckers.

But why the fuck did those kamikaze pilots wear helmets ?

Leather head covering to keep the head warm at high altitude. No heaters in 1940s circa plane cockpits

My Dad had one of them cockpit masks from a spitfire or Lancaster Bomber.Wondering if he kept it?Bet it would be worth a few bob.It may have been my Granddad's who I mentioned in the thread earlier?Will have to find out.
