Top ten70's punk songs

Post by deanox » Sat Dec 16, 2017 9:38 pm

Back in the 70's I was a punk and would love to walk down the Kings road having a row with the teddy boys :D .
I've tried to put together my top ten punk song favorites limiting one song to a band and it's bloody hard.
So here goes my top ten (and I'm sure I've missed loads) in no particular order:

Janie Jones - the Clash
Teenage kicks - the Undertones
EMI - Sex Pistols
New Rose - the Damned
Oh Bondage up yours - X-ray spex
Ever fallen in love - the Buzzcocks
Peaches - the stranglers
Blitzkreig bop - the Ramones
Psycho killer - the Talking heads
Alternative Ulster - stiff little fingers

Massive fan of Talking Heads but I would have put them in the 'New Wave' camp along with Blondie,Ian Dury, Elvis Costello, The Police etc

This one gets an honourable mention too.......(tin hat on..!!!)

Grip...the Stranglers
Bank Robber.....The Clash
Pretty Vacant.....Sex Pistols
Pet Semetary....The Ramones
Personality Crisis...New York Dolls
Alternative Ulster...Stiff Little Fingers
If the Kids are United....Sham 69
Orgasm Addict....Buzzcocks
Working for the Yankee Dollar....The Skids
Gary Gilmore's Eyes....The Adverts

My own favourites and I've listed 10 different bands although I could probably think of 10 Stranglers numbers on their own. Also not sure if they're all in the 70's.

It's not the principle. It's the money.

Quite liberal interpretations of punk here so I'd include Boomtown Rat's "Rat Trap" or "She's so modern"
