That moment on a school day morning when you look in the bathroom mirror only to discover you've got a big zit on your forehead. At that moment your day is already ruined.
You go downstairs trying your best to avoid any contact with your family.
But then your mum says "Ooh, I think you've got a spot on your head".
"I KNOW MUM, IT'S THE SIZE OF A SMALL PLANET - YOU DON'T NEED TO TELL ME!!!!!!".

Woolworths where you could buy loose warm peanuts served in a paper bag.
Shops being closed on Sundays, wonderful.
Loved British Holidays none of this flying shit.
Only two TV channels that went off at 11-12 o clock at night and ended with the national anthem.

Brilliant thread Grandad.

hahah forget about warm peanuts and I loved them

I remember a time when no fish and chip shop was open Monday ( maybe because billingsgate is closed monday so no fresh fish ? )

Broken biscuits from Jackson's in barking road ... and we had to queue for fresh bread and rolls for Sunday tea

Went there as an AWAY fan ...
The Couple that lived downstairs to me and my old man, were big Wimbledon Speedway fans,
and kinda half adopted me,used to go to the Dons every week for a Couple of years,
absolutely loved it...

Was weird for me seeing the Claret and blue and the crossed hammers on the jackets, while
wanting the Dons to win...
Have to admit remember feeling a bit split.

Remember going there for a a big European Speedway Final as well once..
(might have been a world championship quali)

Got loads of old programmes stashed away somewhere,I'll have a hunt round the attic later...

Remember ...all the girls you used to play with with in the playground at junior school...
And looking at at them in a whole new light, when you moved up to secondary school,
and they started running round in hockey skirts......
