We do have a genuine option of tightening up the registration procedure which would entail one of us having to approve every new member.

I'm going to look into a patch upgrade to see if we can automatically stop certain types of email configurations from joining?

Absolutely. I'm not a regular on the canal but the next time I'm there it will be in full regalia and hands-free as my beer will be resting on my knob.
