So Arnautovic has left and gone to china for 22.5 million, Maxi Gomez has chosen Valencia of us, Rondon doesn’t look likely either.

The search for a big money striker goes on.

Now everyone has their own opinion on the Maxi Gomez Saga, some are glad it didn’t happen and some are annoyed that it couldn’t get done.

I personally respect Maxi Gomez, was offered high wages to come and play for us and although he has taken his time choosing where to go, he has chosen Valencia for footballing reasons. We’ve just got rid of Arnautovic who was chasing the money so maybe it was best to not happen.

Now the search is still ongoing and with only a month to go until the summer transfer window slams shut we are in a bit of a situation.

Arnautovic was allowed to leave which also was apparently to fund the Gomez transfer which obviously hasn’t materialised. In turn this has allowed a few of our targets to have major interest in them. We may be missing out on Rondon who we were supposedly hoping to sign very quickly, he seems to be going to China as well to link up with Rafa Benitez and now leaves us a striker down and our targets fading.

With news that Mario Balotelli has apparently been offered to us on a free transfer from Marseille, I would personally take him. Still only 28, won the league with Manchester City and a proven goal scorer in the premier league. Considering he would be a free transfer and would bulk up our striker options, I think it could be a smart move. However I think the wages could possibly be an issue with it rumoured he was on ÂŁ2.7m for just six months with Marseille.

Now the search obviously continues it will be interesting to see what develops over the coming weeks, only a month remaining and still need two strikers, let’s hope something materialises otherwise it could be a long season ahead.
