West Ham have taken a step back in their pursuit for Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan, according to ExWHUEmployee.

The Hammers signed Pablo Fornals from Villarreal two weeks ago and were then linked with making Jordan their fourth signing of the summer transfer window.

Last week, Sky Sports were reporting that West Ham triggered his £13.5m release clause and were set to start negotiations over personal terms with the player.

However, it seems that was premature, and ITK blogger ExWHUEmployee was quick to dismiss these claims.

West Ham’s transfer window was beginning to excite many fans after the excellent signing of Fornals and were optimistic of getting a deal done for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, but that transfer looks like it could drag on to the very end.

There are still players expected to leave, with the likes of Pedro Obiang and Javier Hernandez reportedly looking for a move, so signing a forward and midfielder would be crucial, not only in terms of squad depth, but improving the overall quality at Manuel Pellegrini’s disposal.

The clock is ticking, but with a couple of our targets currently in action at Copa America in Brazil, it could be a quiet couple of weeks for the West Ham fans.

West Ham fan for as long as I can remember. I was flukey enough to watch The Irons beat Bury 10-0 in my first ever game . . . True to form, West Ham then went out and signed their central defender 😬
