It’s no secret that Manuel Pellegrini is looking for a new striker, and Callum Wilson is the latest name linked with the club.
According to reports in The Sun, West Ham are preparing a £35m bid for the Bournemouth striker, with a proposed deal for Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez seemingly dead in the water.
The 27-year-old has been a success since joining from Coventry City in 2014, overcoming two serious knee injuries to earn himself an England call up last season.
The 2018/19 Premier League campaign saw him earn many plaudits, with his 14 goals and nine assists in 30 games being an excellent haul for a team whose form nosedived in the latter part of the season.
The rumours come as no surprise, with the Hammers having previously been linked to the Bournemouth player. After the signing of Pablo Fornals, a striker is now a priority for the club, with Jordan Hugill and Javier Hernandez expected to follow Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez out of the door.
In addition to Gomez and Wilson, the Hammers have also been linked to Aleksandar Mitrovic and Salomón Rondón, and it surely can’t be long before progress is made.
