Marko Arnautovic continued to impress new boss Manuel Pellegrini after scoring twice against Preston earlier today.

Since returning to pre-season action, the Austrian has bagged three goals in two games, proving just how vital he is to this current West Ham side.

There has been speculation in abundance linking Arnie with a move away from West Ham, with Manchester United and Inter Milan saidto be interested in signing him.

However, these false rumours were put to bed rather quickly when Arnautovic returned from his holiday and joined up with the rest of the squad for pre-season.

Many media outlets have claimed that the Austrian is ‘unhappy’ and wants a move away, but again this is merely nonsense and should not be taken seriously.

You only have to look at last season to see what this club means to Arnie. Since converted to a striker, he has been on fire and just keeps on getting better.

For so long we have cried out for a striker who can score us 15+ league goals a season, and I believe Arnie is that man. Keeping him happy and scoring is a recipe for success, and it is crucial that we do so.

With the additions of Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko, Arnie now has the ammunition behind him that he lacked last season, and it really is a frightening thought for what could be with them all firing next season.

Last season after Arnie was converted into a striker, he managed to score 11 goals and registered six assists while doing so. Considering this record is without the first three months of the season, it really does show just how important he is to us, and what he can produce next season.

You can check out Arnie’s in depth statistics from last season here.

Do not stress over pre-season results. It is all about gaining fitness, bonding as a squad and it gives Pellegrini a chance to observe and figure out what his strongest XI is for the beginning of the new season.

Arnie’s quality cannot be stopped by any defender on his day, and he consistently showed that over the course of last season; so expect big things from the Austrian, especially under an attacking manager in Pellegrini.

West Ham fan for as long as I can remember. I was flukey enough to watch The Irons beat Bury 10-0 in my first ever game . . . True to form, West Ham then went out and signed their central defender 😬
