Samir Nasri has been training with West Ham since early November after being without a club following his release from Turkish side, Antalyaspor.

The Frenchman is notably still banned from football until the end of 2018 after breaching doping regulations. Despite this, it looks ever likely that he’ll be a West Ham player come Janaury.

But is this a good signing for the hammers?

Well, the 2013/14 season under Pellegrini at Manchester City was arguably the best of Nasri’s career. He went on to contribute 16 goals for City who were ultimately crowned champions. Time has since flown by though and things haven’t quite ended up the way that he would have imagined after two unsuccessful spells at Sevilla and Antalyaspor, respectfully.

However, if he can rediscover his form of before under Pellegrini, he could prove a pivotal signing for West Ham who may well secure a player capable of producing game-changing magic. Combine this with his vast experience in both the Premier league and European competitions, Nasri on his day, has the ability to pass open any defence.

Recent injuries to midfielder trio Andriy Yarmolenko, Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere along with star man Manuel Lanzini still working his way back to full fitness, the irons have been left short in the middle of the park. Therefore the Frenchman would only help in adding another creative threat going forward, all without a penny being spent on transfer fees.

Reports suggest that the 31-year-old has impressed in East London with his willingness to lower his wage demands and get back to full fitness.

A decision on Samir Nasri is set to be made next week.

Do you think he deserves a chance to shine in claret and blue?
