I may watch a couple of games if nothing else on. In the main, as it stands at the moment, I’m not fussed. Tbh, whilst the women’s game is improving, I think it’s fair to say that it’s going to take a few more years yet before it’s remotely considered somewhere comparable to the men’s game. Don’t get me wrong, and I’m trying hard to not have a sexist view, the women’s game is making big strides towards where they want to be, but, ultimately without financial investment from sponsors, global and national exposure and media coverage it’s going to take time. As Pale says, bbc are bigging it up cos from their point of view it was cheap to buy ( in relative terms )
I read this week that someone was complaining about the disparity between the sums involved in prize money regarding the men’s World Cup and this coming women’s World Cup. I think it will take some considerable time before there is parity.
In the mean time, good luck to all the ladies, I genuinely hope they have a great World Cup.
