Aston Villa vs West Ham Official Match Thread

Post by Ibbyham »

Back to the Premier League business for the next 4 games which another 7 points will do for me, starting with Aston Villa who just promoted and trying to settle in the PL. Hope all our boys back in good shape and ready.

Squad:

Fabianski

Fredericks
Diop
Ogbonna
Masuaku

Rice
Noble

Yarmolenko
Lanzini
Anderson

Haller

Hopefully a good match and should get at least a point the minimum.

Didn,t want to see Rice play 2 International games. How did Lanzini do for Argies?
Villa had a decent 2-0 win against Everton at home. Not an easy team to take down Everton.
Big test this game. It,s a game we would have probably lost a couple of seasons back so ......

I think Lanzini playing later today, he will be back in UK by Friday so he got Saturday/Sunday to prepare. Should be OK as long as he is not playing full 90 minutes for Argentina.

A crossroads for me.

Two results we expected, a lucky point and possibly a fortunate win. It's a defining game imo.

As was said, Villa disposed of Everton and didn't deserve to lose at home to Bournemouth.

Lose, and it's another season of promise but no more.
Draw and the house is divided.
Win and it's the Champions League title within 3 years.

Oh alright, 4.

I'll go for No.6, but be dammed if I know what's happened to No 5.
Love a cup of Rosey I do.

Fabianski
Fredericks, Balbuena, Diop, Masuaku
Noble, Rice, Wilshere
Anderson, Lanzini
Haller

Id bring Wilshere in for a 3 man centre midfield. Gives Anderson and Lanzini free roles to link up with Haller.
If its not working we always have the option of Fornals and Yarmolenko on the bench.

Will be a tough away game, will be a good atmosphere, lets start quick and silence them

...................Fabianski
Fredericks Diop Ogbonna Masuaku
................Rice .....Noble
...Yarmolenko Lanzini Anderson
......................Haller

Roberto
Zabaleta/Cresswell/Johnson
Balbuena
Sanchez/Coventry
Snodgrass/Wilshere/Holland
Fornals
Ajeti

Likely subs later in 2nd half are Yarmolenko<>Fornals and Noble<>Sanchez. It would be good if we could kill the game off early to perhaps give Ajeti or a youngster some minutes. Lanzini could perhaps benefit from not playing 90mins after all that travelling.

anyone else with heart in mouth until internationals are over, royaly fucked us last year with lanzini and we are still looking short of goal scoring attacking options if haller gets injured and with antonio out.

1st chance of the season to watch them play but dont expect an easy game, Villa look good and have been a little unlucky. Same team as last outing yarmo to come on 2nd half.

A lovely uncomfortable monday evening beckons, with lots of choice sweary words for the kids to pick up....again.
