Africa Cup of Nations: Tournament is being 'disrespected'

Post by terrya1965 »

says former England striker Ian Wright.

Maybe,it might get a bit more respect if it wasn't played in the middle of our Football Season. The clubs that pay the players wages have to do without them and the fans don't get to see them either.

Maybe it is also has an effect on who finishes where too.

So Liverpool, for example, didn’t know Salah and Mane would miss 5 or 6 weeks of the season when they signed them ?

Perhaps they thought Salah was Welsh.

Sebastien Haller received much praise from Ian Wright for his spirited plea of AFCON solidarity and brothers across borders comments. Sebastien in return has commented favourably on Ians knitwear particualarly his chunky cardigans as modeled on MOTD.

The BBC are really pushing the broadcasting boat out with a fully seven games live coverage of the fifty-three game schedule. A spokeperson gushed "We're thrilled to be bringing such a prestigious event free-to-air for UK audiences"

And those BBC audiences will themselves be thrilled to find the games on the iPlayer along with firm favourites like the Great British Sewing Bee...
