I was in the Royal navy from 79-84 and missed loads of games in that time, 82 I was down in the Indian Ocean on patrol.
As soon as I left the mob I got a season ticket but i think that may have been 85.

Was there at that one...Tbh,I was there most of the time in the 80's.
Me too. Only went to selected games in the early 80s as I had school on Saturday mornings but started going regularly home and away a few years later when I went off to University
Good to see that again. I went to most home games, only a few aways, but missed that one.
Players 1 to 6 all legends, but honourable mentions for Geoff Pike, Sarge and Paul Allan. And Jimmy Neighbour was decent and had his great moments, notably against Coventry in the League Cup semi final (I think). …. Sorry Sandy Clarke!
I really liked Sarge as a player. Time may be playing tricks on me but the lasting impression I have has him as quite similar to Bowen. Hard to separate them in term of ability, work rate, scoring and assists - perhaps influenced by the nostalgia stirred up by that video, but that’s the memory I’ve always carried of him.

I went to Sunderland once and Sandy Clarke managed to hit the terrace from underneath the bar. Quite an achievement if you ask me.
