premier league spending through the years

Post by deanox »

Found this chart which explains why we may never have a chance against the top spenders. I know Leicester managed to do well and team cohesion is very important but to consistently play well, you need a bit of dosh!!

Putting it another way at the end of 2021 we had been the 9th highest spenders. But our average league position has, I guess, been much lower than that. In fact we weren’t even in the PL for some of those seasons.

So we’ve spunked money on shit like Wiltshire, Carroll and Joe Hart too often it seems. And not enough research into low cost incomings, like Bowen and the Czech lads, whose value increases in line with their performances

Just think , our spending could be higher if it wasn't for the London Stadium.

Who pays for the security? How much do we pay per annum per game now compared to how much we paid when we formed all out ourselves.?

By my understanding it was cheaper though the income on the grub was a little less.

The good old taxpayer picks up the tab for security and the like. So we don’t have that expense which we did at Upton Park.

As for rent I think we pay £2.5 million p.a. Which is peanuts. Plus of course we can cram around 25,000 more bums on seats at Stratford for every home match so revenue is greater.

That's what we pay for 19 games. Every game at home after that is additional cost (i.e. Europa League and Cup games). Can't remember what the exact fee is though?

I may be mistaken but I thought our rent included a certain number of extra fixtures as well. Still relative peanuts nonetheless.
