Is this the new way to lift a trophy now?The first lift(the press's first shot) and they just show us the base(underneath) of the trophy.Henderson of Liverpool does it all the time and the bint from Chelsea done it today.(you just see the green felt on the bottom
)
This is the time-honoured tradition of displaying the base of the trophy, to reveal there is no price sticker still on it. Like checking a sticker has been removed before writing a birthday card.
Or more pertinently in our case - just before the Jules Rimet trophy was handed to England captain Bobby Moore at the end of the World Cup final;
it was noticed, a price sticker had not been removed from the base of the trophy.
The Queen who was wearing gloves for the ceremony at the time, was useless at finger-picking the white label off and a member of the Horse-Guards Parade had to use a bayonet to scrape off the offending label.
It's simply a gesture of "no flies on us" and should not be interpreted as an indicator of physical impairment or lazy hand coordination; as suggested by some internet detectives
