Agree it's Areola';s time but imo the way a manager treats his players is no different to the way a manager in any business should treat the staff. If someone is effectively being demoted , and this applies to anyone irrespective of their salary, it is a blow to the ego and something that needs handling in the correct manner.

Spot on. To all the people on here moaning that he was not told in time or that it comes as a bit of a shock, he was pulled aside and it was discussed with him before the team was announced and it was all explained to him. That said, he was also warned a year ago that last season would be a transitional one once Areola was signed on a permanent deal and it was fairly obvious he would be handing over to the man 10 years younger than him over a year ago so if this is a shock then he is as much deluded as many on here. He was happy to accept that 12 months ago.
This is professional sport FFS and not some kind of kindergarten where people need counselling before they are dropped. When a player wants to fuck off they are quite happy to do so at the drop of a hat so tough shit, it is a squad sport.
