Had to Google that one mate......cheeky sod.....
I looked over Jordan and what did I see? Comin' for to carry me home There was a band of angels, a-comin' after me Comin' for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Comin' for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Comin' for to carry me home I'm sometimes up, and I'm sometimes down Comin' for to carry me home But but I know my soul is heavenly bound Comin' for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Comin' for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Comin' for to carry me home If you get there before I do Comin' for to carry me home Tell all my friends that I'm a-comin' too Comin' for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Comin' for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Comin' for to carry me home And now they're comin' for to carry me home.
It's now turning into a witch hunt.BlackDiamond wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 10:56 amI looked over Jordan and what did I see? I'm not sure who Jordan is but the rest of it's pretty standard blues gospel stuff. A kind of mournful dirge with the emphasis on getting "home" where ever that is,presumably a good place. A safe place.
You can change the lyrics but so what,it's kind of mythical and vague anyhow. And the fact it was first sang by a slave in 1860 so what ?
Bob Dylan on being questioned what Idiot Wind meant, said "It's just a song"
All this correction is just a bunch of people, running about seeking dark mischief where none exists and promoting themselves into the bargain. It's a lie.

At a guess it’s the River Jordan or maybe even the Country though I doubt it existed at the time it was originally sung.BlackDiamond wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 10:56 amI looked over Jordan and what did I see? The country of Jordan was founded in the 20th century so it must be the river.Newmarket wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 1:17 pmAt a guess it’s the River Jordan or maybe even the Country though I doubt it existed at the time it was originally sung.BlackDiamond wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 10:56 am
