Two races in. Two epic races. Let's hope the rest of the season continues like this.

As for Bottas, I don't think he did any wrong. When you watch him in relation to the track it's easy to think he moved across sharply. But keep in mind the track kinks left at that point, so that gives the impression of him moving to the right. If you watch him in relation to the dry line, he stays on that dry line. So clearly taking the same line that all drivers were taking. He was obliged to leave a cars width, and he did that and more. And if you watch the onboard footage from Kimi's car you can see him move sharply left before Russell loses it. So personally I think no blame should be apportioned to Bottas.

As for Russell, while I do think it was his error, it wasn't a big error. Just a small mistake that had huge consequences.
And I don't buy this 'heart-felt' apology. He was forced into saying that by Wolff.

Talking of Wolff, I was not impressed with his perspective on the situation:

"George should have never launched into this manoeuvre, considering that the track was drying up. It meant taking risks, and the other car is a Mercedes in front of him. In any driver’s development, for a young driver, you must never lose this global perspective".

Russell had DRS and consequently a big closing speed. He's a racing driver in with a chance of getting some very rare points. And Wolff said he shouldn't have launched that manoeuvre? Because the other car is a Mercedes? That is a ridiculous comment.
And this is the guy who was shouting at Bottas over the radio for not doing what Russell attempted.

After a great qualifying it looked like Bottas got his mojo back.

1. Bottas 2. Hamilton 3. Verstappen

Now the race, Bottas retained top spot after 2 race starts, but Hamilton lost his 2nd place to Verstappen on the 2nd re-start. Now in 3rd place he managed to retake Verstappen and Bottas. Thought Bottas had his moments in this race and a lot better so far this year. I feel he cannot hang to the lead anymore and must play the wing man to Hamilton. As Hamilton finds extra gears in his momentum to keep the lead and win his 2nd this year. Bottas retains fastest lap and gains that extra point from Verstappen. Not a bad race and still worth watching.

Thought Ricciardo was doing well but dropped back to 9th place. Norris still in fine form finished 5th maintaining him and McLaren 3rd spot in the WC. :)
Perez doing better and it does seem he will play a good roll for Red Bull ;)

Both Alpines doing well and could get better .

Top 10

1. Hamilton (Mercedes)
2. Verstappen (Red Bull, +29.148)
3. Bottas (Mercedes, +33.530 and fastest lap)
4. Perez (Red Bull, +39.735)
5. Norris (McLaren, +51.369)
6. Leclerc (Ferrari, +55.781)
7. Ocon (Alpine, +63.749)
8. Alonso (Alpine, +64.808)
9. Ricciardo (McLaren, +75.369)
10. Gasly (Alpha Tauri, +76.463)

Another race next week ;)

Think first time seen Ham Outraced in a while...Max's overtake early doors....but he more than made up for it....
Bottas is like Vettel a bit...Fast but not a Great racer...Lewis is top of tree for both, but think has a really important role this
year, maybe moreso than normal,he needs to separate Lewis from Max,by nicking as many seconds as he can,Lewis
needs to build up a little lead...otherwise a DNF by someone might decide the title this year...would imagine Red Bull
gonna win a good few more races,so will be a lot closer this year,if he is knocked down to 4th finishes, cos Perez will more
than push him..Constructors could be tight as well....But Happy to see Red Bull win that.
Good seeing Mclaren involved again...Norris is a star really enjoyed watching him come thru...Ricky seems to have lost his
Mojo a bit...thats a shame.
