I think the masks are related to the droplet sizes of the virus. They won’t stop the smaller droplets but they’ll stop the bigger more dangerous droplets.

It's the other way around, most masks do not stop aerosols, which is where the virus molecules reside.
I must be reading this wrong but surely the molecules don’t just reside in aerosols and surely it’s harder to get a bigger droplet through a hole than a small droplet. My aunt was a sister until recently and explained the mask to me
