For those of you who don't know I'm pretty big on politics... and I've decided to take one of my rants to the forum...
Clement Attlee is the best Prime Minister in British history- period. People always talk about Churchill, but if you do your research, you'll discover that pre-war he was nothing but a far-far-right Tory, who despised the working classes (ordered the army to open fire at protesting miners). Even what he did during the war is often questioned by historians and "experts". Some of his decision certainly did seem unnecessarily blood thirsty.
Attlee built up Britain from a bankrupt, war torn slum, into a country with council housing and free health care. Absolute disgrace that more people aren't taught about him.
Anyway, rant over. I'm just writing this hoping someone who knows about Attlee will agree with me.

I only heard a small amount about him. Will find out more.. I'm sure YouTube will have loads of videos on him!.......
Hmmmm, Churchill spent 20 years 'pre-war' as a liberal.
And given he didn't become PM until 1940, how can you judge him as PM based on what he did prior to that?
Anyway Attlee saw off Nye Bevan which, for me, verges on the unforgiveable.
Communism deprives no man of the power to appropriate the products of society; all that it does is to deprive him of the power to subjugate the labour of others by means of such appropriations.

That's sort of my point. Churchill was more of a war general than a PM.
As for Bevan, I agree. But I don't think leader is perfect.
