Interesting to see how the UK papers headline the conflict.
Daily Mail. ' WW3 hours away and we're all going to die'
Daily Express. 'Ukraine war gives Brexit boost to Boris'
The Guardian. 'This would never have happened if we'd stayed in the EU'
The Independent. 'Why are Ukrainian refugees more important than brown ones ?'
Daily Mirror. 'Jeremy Corbyn calls for Ukraine surrender to end bloodshed'
The Sun. 'Angela Rayner slams Putin and has nice tits'
Daily Star. 'Vladimir Putin ate my cat'
The west are controlling Zelensky nicely. Supplying his militia with arms is slowly draining the Russia bear, of it's strength and ensuring that further belligerent expansionism seems much less attractive in the near future.
Wear down your enemy by funding a proxy war without the collateral downside to yourself.
And Zelensky is happy with this arrangement as he knows that his own fame can be monetised at a later date. Which of course it will.

The biggest damage to Putin is the economic impact the West's various embargoes are having. The rouble has fallen significantly, which means higher prices, assuming of course the goods themselves are still available. Only a matter of time before the population at large start registering their dissatisfaction with their government. I'm certain there are some top people in the Kremlin who are anti invasion and amonmgst them there are doubtless those who would like to be the next President.
And of course in the internet age it's impossible to keep the population in the dark about , among other things, body bags returning from the front. Watch this space.

On the other hand: The Russian ex-president Dmitry Medvedev said it was “foolish” to believe western sanctions against Russian businesses could have any effect on the Moscow government. The sanctions would only consolidate the Russian society and not cause popular discontent with the authorities, Medvedev told Russia’s RIA news agency in an interview.
And the internet is state controlled. They don't have Gonzo and Geo distributing useful knowledge on a twice daily basis like we rely on.
Even before sanctions, those free nourishing abstractions were not available to them.

Sanctions never affect governments directly do they ? They affect the general population. Who in turn express their discontent with their rulers in various ways. Of course the spin machine will blame NATO for the price of bread in Moscow. But you can't fool an entire population all the time. We've seen it here with, most recently, Covid. The most gullible, usually the elderly, in any society will believe anything they hear over the newswaves, but the rest will usually have several questions they want answering before swallowing whatever spin their rulers are putting out.
