That doesn't really work, because some actions are so wrong, the perpetrator, would have recognised that. The binary line between right and wrong can't be misunderstood when those actions are so grotesque. Unprovoked murder, assualt on a child.
It's not possible to claim an individual was incapable of understanding those consequences or recognising their subsequent guilt afterwards. That's why they scarper afterwards.

I agree entirely with what you say about the perpetrators. But to say it is impossible to claim an individual’s lack of understanding of their actions is nonsense. An entire industry has been allowed to build up, populated by sociologists who do exactly that.
