Totally agree with that. As do, I suspect, the vast majority of people in the country. But Stelling isn't saying otherwise, at least not imo. He's having a pop at the thickos who infest Twitter and, among other things, abuse footballers who miss penalties. I don't go on Twitter so I can only imagine the sort of language that's used when immigration is discussed on that particular website. I think most people agree we need a sensible, grown up, debate about immigration to try and put the cork back in the bottle. And what we don't need is inarticulate, intellectually challenged low lifes stirring the pot and giving the impression that everyone who believes immigration needs controlling, and controlling NOW, is a rabid racist. They most certainly are not. But those who are happy to keep the floodgates open will point to the more, shall we say, extreme views being expressed and highlight them as being representative of mainstream thinking.
In an ideal world debate would be right however these do gooders and leftie groups are able to shout the loudest without opposition and not allow sensible discussion on these matters
